During summer season car ferries leave from Piombino to Portoferraio almost hourly. There are also daily ferries for Cavo and Rio Marina. The shipping companies are Toremar, Blu Navy and Moby Lines.
The crossing Piombino-Portoferraio takes one hour. A hydrofoil service (no cars) takes 40 minutes.
